three hundred thirthieth entry

It's hard to tell my parents that Family Guy, computer games, and candies aren't just for kids.

Movie It's hard to tell them to do something without leading them - they are old school. My sister leads by example, I follow her sometimes to just let my parents experience certain things. She went out to watch this with her friends, and my parents mentioned it. Since they will never go just them together - I said I'd go. So we watched:

A rip of Day After Tomorrow with Korean humor. Funny I was there every summer while I lived at Busan. Actually remember seeing a few tall buildings back then.

Coffee It's hard to tell them to try new things. So you just do it. My parents have been drinking diluted Maxwell's and Dunkin for most of their lives. I told them to try some other brands - just for the sake of trying.

I picked out the classic Eight O'Clock coffee.
I can't fully appreciate the flavor yet, because we're out of coffee filters and my mom uses paper towels - but it definitely tastes crisper than most other coffee, or maybe it's too dilute cuz of the paper towel.

Summer Look-back Chicago trip was one of the first trips I felt READY for. I think I've fudged all my trips prior to this or went along with my dad's, "Can you book a hotel for tomorrow? We're going to ____. Here's my credit card number." I think I spent a good 2 days trying to plan an itinerary.

three hundred twenty nineth entry

This is half of my summer.

I think I am starting to learn what photography is really about....examples:

There are instant captures
DSC_5609

And there are set-up shots.

And there are shots that aren't taken by me

And pictures that missed focus, but are still good.

And there are pictures of people I've never met.

And there are plenty of, "Jung, could you take a picture of us?"

And there are pictures you just wait and wait for it to come, snapping away until you get that one. Good that I don't have film camera.

three hundred twenty eighth entry

Predetermination + Free will in a nutshell. POKER: No matter what you do, the reality is, the next few unturned cards, the flop, the turn card, and the river, are already determined. We might have an inkling - based on who has folded and are playing, but nothing concrete. To us, the cards' identities are hidden until it's turned - the God's all knowing power and the perception of human free will CAN coexist.

2-7 Offsuit can be good with God on your side. Have hope.

three hundred twenty sixth entry

Medical school teaches me that people in this world aren't as bad as they first seem.

I think I was just exposed to all the bad things in the world first.

Just updating people with my life:

-Eve's wedding:

-Florida for ARVO conference:

-Vision screening sessions:

Soup_Kitchen_Med_Student

-Also I play intramural softball.. but no pictures yet.

-Every time I goto Barnes / Borders / Starbucks / Dunkin Donuts / Panera to study, there always seems to be people I need to help. So far, it's been: Old couple trying to send a picture on the cell phone to their daughter, a lady with a dead battery needing jump start, a guy struggling to get his computer working among others. I always just feel like I am at the right place at the right time.

-I spun out (full 180 infront of a car following) on a rainy day. It was fun. Second time slipping and sliding in the rain. I never seem to panic in those situations though.

-Forrest Gump says life is like a box of chocolates. It's good to know that at least it's chocolate all the time. I need to have that mentality.
